Creativity Across The Globe
Visual artists have been working collaboratively with Bramley Sunnyside School in Rotherham to explore geography creatively, by producing artwork in the form of a world map.
The hugely imaginative and colourful creation will remain a permanent learning resource for the children, who touched on climates, land types and habitats across the globe and in doing so, developed their speaking and listening skills.
The whole school became involved and all the children, regardless of perceived natural ability, excelled artistically, while staff requested further CPD to maximise the creative learning impact of the project and promote sustainable skills.
Visual artist, Moya Sketchley was continually impressed with the dedication of the teachers and said: "Working on this project has been a genuine partnership between staff, artists and children and made me feel stimulated, challenged and supported in equal measure."
The Creative Partnerships BDR project has had a lasting effect on the school with teachers wanting to next focus on the people and places aspect of the geography curriculum, while the head teacher has expressed interest in developing similar approaches across other subject areas.
