Tim McCall, lead guitarist for Jarvis Cocker's band, thinks it's very important to be open to musical differences and his advice to young aspiring musicians is, "Get out there and do it!"
Last year Tim McCall's life transformed when his old friend Richard Hawley recommended him to Jarvis Cocker, who needed a guitarist for the next world tour.
Tim got the gig, toured Europe and has performed on shows like Jonathan Ross, the South Bank Show and Jools Holland, all in under a year.
Surprisingly, the ex Yewlands School boy hated music class and just wanted to be left alone to play the guitar, which he used to recreate songs from his Dad's Beatles collection at the age of 10.
Other musical influences include The Who, Jimi Hendrix, Marvin Gaye and the Beach Boys, while before working with Jarvis, Tim played in bands like Various Vegetables and the Pollinates.
Tim, whose past career includes dishwashing and ambulance driving, recently performed at the Royal Festival Hall as part of the eight-day Meltdown festival, organised by Jarvis.
The next stop for the band is the Fuji Rock Festival in Japan, which should suit Tim, who says he, "loves travelling, touring and playing."
