Musician

Simon Stafford was born in November 1967 and had his first taste of fame in the late nineties as a bass guitarist for Sheffield based band, The Longpigs. The band, which consisted of Richard Hawley on guitar, Crispin Hunt on vocals and Danny Boyle on the drums, rose to fame on the fringe of Britpop and had success with singles such as, ‘She Said’ and ‘On and On’.

In 2001, Simon joined the legendary Joe Strummer and the Mescaleros with the line-up change after the release of ‘Rock Art and the X-ray style’ and quickly became a fan favourite at live shows with his trombone playing on ‘Armagideon Time’ and other tracks. Simon’s brooding baseline complimented the Mescalero’s reggae tunes and Joe Strummer’s live rambling perfectly.

Simon worked with Richard Hawley on his solo album, ‘Late Night Final’ in 2002 and more recently, this multi-talented musician has been touring with famous Sheffielder, Jarvis Cocker.
