BDR’s Creative Agents receive training to help their creative input to schools.
As the new Creative Partnerships Enquiry and Change schools hit their active phase and schools are alive with creativity, Creative Agents are currently upskilling and learning more about how to support schools, harness the ideas of different partners and bring in exciting and effective practitioners.
What is a Creative Agent exactly? We asked Programmer Linda Barton of Sero to explain:
“A Creative Agent works closely with a school – it is indeed the Creative Agent who makes the CP Programme happen by harnessing the talents and energies of all the different partners, teachers, artists and creative practitioners. We find our agents are highly skilled and know how to move projects along sensitively but also dynamically”.
The whole Creative Agent team across the region is undergoing four challenging and intensive days of group training which looks at the best ways to manage creative projects, problem-solving, and juggling different priorities.
Evaluation and the new Creative Partnerships Evaluation Framework will provide an important support for schools and agents in ensuring reflection and development are integrated throughout.
Proper Job Theatre Company, are leading the training and their skills in communications and group dynamics are ensuring the agents stay at the top of their game. Focused activites include a special role play with real Headteachers to look into seeing things from another’s point of view.
Agent Iain Connell commented: “What a good opportunity to look at our own techniques for working with teachers and to learn from the other agents’ experiences. The training made us realise that we’re not just working in isolation; it was really very useful.”
