School pupils in Thurnscoe are working with Landscape and Architecture students from Leeds Metropolitan University to design their dream creative learning environment.
Working with highly skilled design consultant James Copp, the children used collage, digital and 3D models to transform their wild and overgrown external environment area into an amazing creative learning lab.
"It is about a participative process," said James, adding that parents, teachers, ex-pupils and current ones had all been involved.
"We are imagining creating the most positive environment for learning, it can be a liberating and hugely imaginative process."
Headteacher Sarah Creighton added that the whole curriculum was being reevaluated using the consultative style which began with the Creative Partnerships project.
“We are now looking at how classrooms can be exploited creatively to offer every possible learning opportunity. It has been an exciting, dynamic and truly collaborative creative process. Now we are looking at moving on to the next phase.....making the design come to life ”.
Local builders and construction students from Barnsley College will be involved in the construction phase.
